Nationwide – Power BI Embedded & Microsoft Fabric Customer Portal Solution

Founded in 2004, Nationwide was Australia’s first managed waste services provider, built on delivering transparency and data-driven insights into waste management and sustainability metrics.

As part of their customer offering, Nationwide required a scalable and secure way to share Power BI dashboards with external customers via their customer portal. This capability was essential to support their commitment to real-time reporting, visibility, and customer transparency.

Solution

We assessed Nationwide’s existing tenant configuration and Microsoft Fabric environment to ensure it was optimised for scale and security.

We then designed and implemented a Power BI Embedded customer portal solution, enabling seamless access to dashboards for external users without compromising security. This included:

• Configuring Power BI Embedded capacity for scalable external access

• Implementing row-level security (RLS) to control customer-specific data visibility

• Connecting a robust semantic model built on Microsoft Fabric

• Ensuring secure authentication and performance optimisation for embedded analytics
