Account Management Dashboard using Power BI

ATNZ was created in 1999 to provide dedicated and focused training for apprentices in the engineering and manufacturing industries. From humble origins in Hawkes Bay, ATNZ expanded quickly to become a national organisation and is now New Zealand’s largest employer of apprentices in mechanical engineering and related industries. ATNZ employs over 370 apprentices throughout New Zealand, hosted by over 170 companies.

ATNZ was using Selma as its student management system and had already invested in building a pipeline to get daily data feeds. In our initial conversations with the CEO, they mentioned using Power BI to harness the data they had been collecting from Selma and had big visions in terms of their analytics and reporting.

Solution

Our initial goal was to ingest the data and build the data model; this required understanding ATNZ's business process and how they used Selma data. Once we achieved the data model, we built front-end wireframes and interactions in Power BI to showcase what is possible in Power BI and use get the account management team comfortable with providing further requirements. We continued the development of the dashboard, giving regular check-ins with the team.

Outcomes

• Interactive Power BI Dashboard, which provided insights on Student enrolments, demographics, attendance and achievement.

• Kick-started the organisation's analytics journey with their first dashboard

• Enabled the account management team and SLT with actionable insights
